“I knew I was ready for any job, and Calcutta Rescue helped me with it,” Farooq shared with quiet confidence, his eyes reflecting a hard-won determination.

Farooq grew up in a tiny slum area, where dreams often seemed out of reach. Life was tough—his mother raised him and his brothers alone. he was just a baby, leaving his mother to raise him and his two brothers on her own. Farooq found a glimmer of hope despite the odds when he was admitted to Calcutta Rescue’s Talapark Education Project at a young age.

As a student, Farooq was not the kind of student who excelled in academics. “Books weren’t my thing,” he often said, but he always believed in himself. While pursuing a traditional academic path didn’t feel right, he was determined to build a life on his terms.

Calcutta Rescue recognised his potential and stepped in once again—this time to shape his future. They enrolled him in a prestigious hairstyling course, opening the door to an entirely new world of opportunities.

Farooq poured his energy into mastering the art of hairstyling. Day by day, he honed his craft, turning his passion into a skill that would change his life. His hard work paid off when he landed a job as a hairstylist at the renowned Jawed Habib salon.
