Our Peace Appeal Music Video: "Imagine" Another Way || By Calcutta Rescue (Original by John Lennon)
With so much strife in the world today, this music video was conceived by Calcutta Rescue staff to encourage people to turn away from conflict and focus on working together to help others and make the world a better place.
Inspired by its founder Dr Jack Preger, who dedicated 40 years of his life to improving the lives of the poorest of the poor in the slums of Kolkata, they got together to create a cover version of John Lennon’s song “Imagine” which is a heartfelt plea for peace, harmony, empathy and understanding.
The video shows a little of the work done by the NGO every day in its bid to create opportunities and transform the lives of some of the planet’s most disadvantaged people. It is being launched on 20th March, the International Day of Happiness, set up by the UN in 2012 to encourage people around the planet to focus on the positive. We hope it will provide inspiration for people to put their energies into positive actions and to work together to bring an end to hatred and violence.
We hope.
We pray.
We “Imagine” Another Way.
What we do
Calcutta Rescue strives to create opportunities for the most disadvantaged people to be free of the burden of disease and for their children to get the support they need to make the most of education and the opportunities it offers.
The charity also initiates collaborations with other organisations to provide essential services in slums, and provides employment opportunities in its fairtrade handicraft project. Our aim is to generate all the essential support necessary for individuals, and whole communities, to transform their lives for the better.
