Barrister Goutam Chakravartti is a veteran lawyer and currently pro bono adviser. In 1954 he was invited to the English Bar, Middle Temple, London. In 1956, he was enrolled in the Calcutta High Court. At first, he was a criminal lawyer and then moved to Civil litigations.
Barrister Chakravartti was also an adviser in legal matters for some years to the German Consulate, Kolkata and also to Max Mueller Bhavan. He has done considerable work in Intellectual Property matters. In 2006, he was awarded Life-Time Achievement Award by the Intellectual Property Law Practitioners, Mumbai.
He has been greatly impressed and admired the work of Dr Jack Preger. He joined Calcutta Rescue in 2005 as the Governing Council member as the legal advisor and then continued as a Society member till Dr Jack’s retirement. After Dr Jack’s retirement, Barrister Chakravartti was requested to take over as the chairperson of Calcutta Rescue in 2019.
Col. Amitava Poddar has been born and brought-up in Calcutta. He completed his schooling at St.Joseph’s College, then a school of the Irish Brothers, and graduation from Calcutta University.
Subsequently, he did his post-graduation and M. Phil from Madras University; he is also an MBA (HR). He was commissioned into the Indian Army in 1977 into the Armoured Corps and had varied experience
in the mountains, deserts, plains and the Rann of Kuch. He has commanded an armoured regiment and has held a number of staff and instructional appointments.
After completing his command of the regiment, he taught at the post-graduation level in Defence Services Staff College, Wellington,Tamil Nadu.
On superannuation in 2007, he worked with a steel plant followed by a leadership position in a research institute.
He joined Calcutta Rescue in 2012 as an adviser to Dr Jack Preger, the Founder of Calcutta Rescue, and was involved with a number of projects of CR. Subsequently, he became a member of the Society and later a member of the Governing Council.
He is an adventure enthusiast visiting places of interest approximately once a year, where possible in his own car, alternatively by other means.
As far as Calcutta Rescue is concerned, he is gung-ho about the work Calcutta Rescue is doing and feels
“Calcutta Rescue is doing tremendous work. I am sure the team will keep working hard for the sake of the poorest of the poor in the city.”
Mr Sanjay Sapru has over three decades of working experience with TATA Steel Ltd in its Marketing & Sales, having interfaced with industry, infrastructure and Retail Marketing in all 4 regions of the Indian Subcontinent. He graduated from Delhi University & subsequently did short courses in IIM & XLRI while working.
Mr Sapru is passionate about sports plays golf, swims and has played tennis, squash, rugby & boxing.
In his spare time, he loves reading, listening to music and trekking. He is also interested in Wildlife and the conservation of ecological balance.

Nupur Dutt, wife of Lt Gen Gautam Dutt has been a Liquid Petroleum Gas Distributor with M/S Indian Oil Corporation Ltd for the last forty one years.
She was entrusted to look after the Paraplegic Centre in Pune for two years and was awarded “ Best Achievement Of The Year” award by the Army Wives Welfare Association ( one of the biggest NGO in India ) in 2005.
In Lucknow, Nupur organised a musical evening called “Ek Shaam Asha Ke Naam” for the “Asha School” for Special Children of the Indian Army and raised approximately Rs 1 Crore.
Her few months association with the children of Calcutta Rescue school has made her aware of the “Children of God” who are so eager to learn and acquire knowledge as much as they can from you.
Nupur Dutt is optimistic in nature and believes in “We Shall OverCome One Day”. She loves to travel around the world and during her leisures she reads, plays the piano and does embroidery work.
Mrs. Seema Sapru holds a Master’s Degree in Chemistry and in Education and a Postgraduate Diploma in School Leadership Management. She completed an online Certificate Course in Multiple Intelligence Theory Programme from Harvard University, USA, and is a certified Global Career Counsellor from the University of California, Los Angeles.
An accomplished teacher and administrator par excellence for nearly three decades, Mrs Sapru joined the Heritage School in 2007 and is on the advisory board of various educational organizations. She received the “Principal of the Year – India” award from India Today and Educomp and was awarded the ‘Pride of the Nation’ award by Shri Om Birla, Speaker, Loksabha on International Women’s Day 2021.
Mrs Sapru has also been associated with two schools for the underprivileged in Delhi and Ahmedabad and runs an outreach programme at The Heritage where students learn to interact with the elderly, sick and the underprivileged.
