Akhtari, affectionately known as Super Nani, is a remarkable woman in her slum community. At the age of 60, she actively participates in the health awareness sessions organised in her slum by our Outreach Team. Despite her age, Akhtari never misses a session.
With five children of her own, Akhtari reflects on her past: “When I was young, I didn’t know about contraceptives. But now, I want every young woman to be aware of these options.” Super Nani firmly believes that proper family planning can bring happiness and stability to households. In today’s challenging times, Akhtari recognizes the significance of having a small family “If we have smaller families, we can provide better care and support for our children.”
Saurabh, the supervisor of the Outreach Team, praises Akhtari’s indomitable spirit. He said “Akhtari is super hard-working. She handles her household responsibilities, and also contributes to her children’s overall well-being even at this age.”
Filled with gratitude for the impactful sessions she has attended, Akhtari aspires to share her experiences and knowledge with the younger generation. She aims to empower them to prioritize their health and make informed decisions about marriage and childbirth. She said “I want every woman to know that she has the power to make decisions for herself. Their health matters, and families can provide better care for their children when they have fewer of them.”
