Calcutta Rescue has been awarded the prestigious Ladies Study Group (LSG) Charitable Trust Annual Award 2020 for its outstanding contribution to Kolkata’s poorest people during the pandemic.
Ladies Study Group is a charitable trust established in 1966 by the Indian Chamber of Commerce. The platform was created with the idea of giving women a platform for showcasing their talents and encourage them to participate and discuss more social issues.
Ladies Study Group facilitates NGOs working in the social sector. Eminent personalitites like former Prime Ministers of India (late) Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, Amitabh Bachchan, Shirley McLaine, Cliff Richards, Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Edmund Hillary, Satyajit Ray and more have graced LSG events.
Calcutta Rescue was singled out from dozens of NGO’s working in West Bengal during this very difficult time for its commitment, which includes taking mobile classrooms out to children who still can’t go to school and ensuring patients continued to get life-saving medicines during last year’s lockdown.
Introducing the award online Diya Jaiswal, President of LSG, said she had met a lot of Calcutta Rescue’s staff and they are “so dedicated, so devoted, a brilliant team of people”.
