CR Girls aware the city goes lax with Covid protocols

Calcutta Rescue trained 10 students to become agents of change and spread awareness against Covid-19 in their communities.

During December, they have been trained by CR teacher, Priyanka, and CR Social Worker and Counsellor Suchandra. Since then they have been visiting the slum areas are being accompanied by Priyanka and Suchandra. After nearly one year of Covid-19’s arrival, people in the city have become complacent regarding the COVID awareness protocol. Many people are not wearing masks and not maintaining social distancing.

“The environment of a slum is already very poor. It is already difficult for people to maintain the protocols there but they can still do things like wearing masks. Disregarding the protocols can still be very harmful to the dwellers. So we have taken initiatives through our students. ” said Ananya Chatterjee, the Head of the Education at Calcutta Rescue.

The students have made posters, poems and charts that they are using to spread the awareness.

“We want to make this interaction more fun and interesting.” Ananya adds, “We have decided to start quiz competitions and those who will answer right will be given masks and hand sanitisers as prizes. The ideas are in the pipeline.”
