CR implemented Online Physiotherapy

Nasrin Khatoon (name changed) was really sad. She is a student of Calcutta Rescue Disability programme. Due to the lockdown, she was unable to go to the school. She was unable to get physiotherapy, speech therapy. She could not have fun in her favourite music and drawing class.

Keeping that in mind Calcutta Rescue has started online physiotherapy classes for the students of Disability unit from 27 November.

During the lockdown, Calcutta Rescue disability centre had to close along with education centres of the charity. While the students of CR schools could be taught through online classes, the disability centre was a place that hit a low blow in that dire situation.

CR Disability Centre caters to the disabled children of very needy families of Kolkata and suburbs. The centre provides physiotherapy, yoga, speech therapy, drawing, dancing and music lessons to the students. Teaching children with special needs is different than usual. But Calcutta Rescue has been able to teach them through online medium.
27 children of the Calcutta Rescue disability project are now learning through online classes. The teachers are teaching them yoga, physiotherapy on screen and they are practising themselves. The kids are submitting their drawings, singing and dancing performances online too!

“We thought that online classes would be difficult for them. They used to come to the centre, meet others and learn together. But they are really enjoying the online classes. It’s a new experience for them.” said Sankar, Supervisor of CR Disability Project, “They are really enjoying theclasses.”
