They lived under the Howrah Bridge. His father, unable to support him, simply dodged his responsibility and handed over Nilu to an old family friend. The family friend tried for some time to make ends meet, but he too had difficulties. When he was just 5 years old, Nilu was brought to Calcutta Rescue. He had no one and no place to go. <\/p>\n<p>Calcutta Rescue found shelter for him in a hostel and provided food. Nilu started coming to our school for education. We provided him with clothing and, yes, football boots. Nilu is extraordinary in the football skills, and he dreams of being like his idol, the Brazilian soccer star, Neymar. <\/p>\n<p>Nilu, now 17, has studied with dedication and at the same time, maintained his determination to become a professional soccer player. He passed the Class X examination,and&nbsp; it was the best moment in his short and difficult life. <\/p>\n<p>He now practices at a football ground next to the East Bengal club.  His coach believesthat he has enough talent and hard work ethic to make it to one of the big clubs one day. Those days under the Howrah bridge are now distant memories, and Nilu of today is more hopeful than ever before about a better future.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nilu cannot remember his mother.
