At just 18 years old, Tanushree Routh has achieved a milestone that reflects her grit, dedication, and resilience. Scoring an impressive 88.20% in the Higher Secondary Examination this year (2025) from the Commerce stream and got admission in , Tanushree stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration for many young girls growing up in difficult circumstances. Her academic brilliance has earned her admission to the prestigious Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration, where she
is pursuing B.Com. (Hons.) in Accountancy with Research.
Tanushree hails from Baghbazar, where she lives with her family in a small room beside the canal. Her father, Subal Routh, is a daily labourer who works tirelessly to support the household, while her mother, Sumitra Routh, takes care of the family as a homemaker. Despite the financial constraints and the challenges of living in a cramped, underserved area, Tanushree’s dreams have always soared high.
From the age of 4, Tanushree has been receiving education support from Calcutta Rescue. This support played a vital role in shaping her academic journey, providing her not just with books and tuition, but with a sense of belief in her own potential.
Tanushree’s elder brother, Soumyajit Routh has also been a part of her support system, encouraging her in her pursuit of education. He is a student of B.Sc (H) 2nd year and has been getting financial support from Calcutta Rescue for his education
. Together, the family has overcome many hurdles, driven by the hope that Tanushree’s success will one day transform their lives.
With her strong academic background and unwavering ambition, Tanushree now aspires to become a Chartered Accountant. She is also deeply interested in business, and dreams of building something of her own someday — a business that not only secures her family’s future but also gives back to the community that supported her.
