Born and raised in a humble household, Varsha Singh has always stood out for her determination, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to education. A beneficiary of Calcutta Rescue’s Education Project since childhood, Varsha has grown up with the belief that learning is the most powerful tool for change. This year, her hard work bore fruit as she successfully completed her Higher Secondary Examination with an impressive 77.8% marks in the Arts stream.

Varsha’s academic success is particularly inspiring when viewed against the backdrop of her family’s daily struggles. Her father, Mr. Ashok Singh, works as a street hawker, while her mother, Mrs. Rekha Singh, is a homemaker. With a modest annual family income of around ₹80,000, managing the expenses of a five-member household—while supporting their children’s education—has always been a challenge. Yet, despite these financial hardships, Varsha’s parents have remained steadfast in their support of her dreams, and Calcutta Rescue has provided the critical assistance that made those dreams attainable.

Through Calcutta Rescue’s continued guidance—covering her educational expenses, providing mentorship, and creating an encouraging learning environment—Varsha has been able to overcome every obstacle in her path. Her sincerity, humility, and drive to excel have made her a role model for many young girls facing similar barriers.

Now, as a student at Seth Anandram Jaipuria College, pursuing a B.A. (Hons.) in Political Science, Varsha is taking steady steps toward her ultimate goal of becoming a Civil Servant. Her ambition is fueled by a deep desire to serve the nation with honesty, empathy, and dedication, using her education to uplift others and bring positive change to society.
