In 2025, Mou Das achieved a remarkable milestone in her educational journey, securing 83% marks in the Pure Science stream in her Class XII Board Examinations from Gyan Bharti Vidyalaya. Her achievement is not just a reflection of her academic excellence but also of her indomitable spirit, discipline, and the unwavering support she received from Calcutta Rescue.

Calcutta Rescue has been a constant pillar in Mou’s life since she was just six years old, providing her with educational support, mentorship, nutrition, and emotional encouragement. With this holistic guidance, Mou flourished—growing into a confident and compassionate young woman who has always valued learning as the key to transforming her life.

Raised by a single mother, who works as a street vendor and earns around ₹84,000 annually, Mou’s life has never been easy. Limited financial means often made it difficult to make ends meet, yet Mou never let adversity dim her determination. Sharing a small home with her mother and younger sister, she learned early the importance of resilience, gratitude, and hard work. She also took on a deep sense of responsibility—not only for her own education but also for supporting her sister’s growth and well-being.

Beyond her academic achievements, Mou shines in many other ways. She is an accomplished artist and a gifted public speaker, admired for her confidence, creativity, and clarity of thought. Her teachers and peers often describe her as sincere, focused, and driven by a genuine curiosity to learn and grow.

Today, Mou is pursuing a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Psychology at Surendranath College, where she is channeling her interest in human behavior toward a meaningful goal. She dreams of becoming an Industrial Psychologist, combining her love for psychology with her desire to improve workplace well-being and create positive, inclusive professional environments. Her ultimate ambition is to become an entrepreneur, creating opportunities for others who, like her, have faced and overcome adversity.

Reflecting on her journey, Mou shared:

“I’ve passed my higher secondary exam with comparatively better marks than I got during my 10th boards. It was challenging — the whole year has been like a roller coaster ride for me. Personal situations got so jumbled that focusing on studies was nearly impossible, but the hope teachers of CR showed me was highly appreciable. They had enough faith and belief, and that made me overcome the exams. So I am really thankful to Calcutta Rescue.”
